Shares, CEOs and Investments

Build a personal portfolio and direct the company treasuries that keep the routes moving.

Buy and sell shares

The Buy and/or Sell a Share action costs one time unit. You may buy one share, sell one share, or do both for different companies in either order. To buy, pay the company’s current stock value from your personal funds into its treasury, take one share and raise its stock value by one, up to 12. To sell, receive the current stock value from the company treasury, return the share to its display and lower its stock value by one, down to 3. You cannot sell when its treasury cannot pay the full value.

Become CEO

You become CEO when you own at least two shares and at least one more share than any other player in that company. If nobody owns two shares, there is no CEO. A tied majority leaves the current CEO in place if they still own at least two shares. If a CEO loses the position, the player with a qualifying majority takes it; if there is a tie for that majority, the company has no CEO until it is broken.

The CEO receives the company’s wage during payout, decides whether to pay dividends, and can move that company’s Navigation Points. The treasury remains separate from personal funds, even when you are CEO.

Invest

Each investment action costs one time unit. Place one of your four investment discs in the topmost free space of a column and pay its printed price. You may place only one of your discs in each column. Three spaces per column offer lower prices further down. Your unlocked investment scores the VP shown at the top of that column.

ProductionProduce 27, 6, 4Produce two containers at one company per action instead of one, for the same time cost.
Navigation ExpertRocks and reserve9, 8, 6Add three points to the reserve of one company you lead; place or move points on rocks for 2 credits.
LoadingLoad 212, 10, 8Load up to two containers per action instead of one, for the same time cost.

The 2-player side may show different values; use the values printed on the board in play. Your investments score the column’s printed VP during final scoring.

Company payout

At the end of each round, the CEO’s wage is mandatory if the company can pay it. If it cannot pay the full wage, skip both wage and dividends. After a wage is paid, the CEO chooses a dividend from zero to three credits per share. The treasury must cover the same amount for every outstanding share. Each player receives dividends into personal funds.

A company loses one stock value when it has no CEO, pays no dividend, or cannot pay at least one credit per share. Otherwise its stock value stays unchanged. See round events for the payout order and wage amounts.
