Gameplay
Learn the round sequence, dice placement, and the Jade economy.
Turn structure
Each round, roll your dice and take turns clockwise until everyone has used all dice. On your turn, resolve one Main Action by placing exactly the number of dice required by that space. The lowest die generally sets the action’s strength or frequency. Before or after it, you may take any legal Bonus Actions, but never during the Main Action.
Action spaces
Blue spaces can be used again by other players if they pay
Coins equal to the lowest die they place. The dice already present do not affect that fee or require a higher value. Brown spaces accept one player and one die for the round. A player color can only be used once at a given action space each round; black dice are neutral and can be used again. City cards are limited to one die per round.
Round start and end
At the start of each round, return dice to players and black dice to the board, reveal the next Books offers, collect recurring city/character/Guild Seal income, refresh the action-area City Cards, then roll and resolve compensation. At round end, clear Contracts left on the board and refill the contract display. After five rounds, score the game.
Jade
Jade is a Good used for Contracts and route costs. When paying
Coins or
Camels, each
Jade can replace one of either. Some Books offers and Guild Seal rewards also grant
Jade. Check the exact cost printed beside a route;
Jade does not replace Goods such as
Pepper,
Silk or
Gold.
