Solo Mode
Set up the Ghost scientist, resolve its movement and race it on objectives and challenges.
Solo setup
Set up the game for two players, using only your color and the Ghost’s pieces. Do not use Missions. Place the Ghost scientist on the next inner-ring space indicated by the solo rules. Remove the two B Progress cards, shuffle A and B Progress decks separately, remove the top two cards from each without looking, then stack the remaining A cards on top of B. Set the Ghost objective markers on their leftmost spaces. Put three Life tokens on each small objective and two on each big objective. Draw one Challenge of each difficulty color.
Use the solo rulebook diagram and the main setup together; solo replaces only the listed multiplayer setup steps.
Ghost turns
The player takes turns normally. After the player moves, move the Ghost in the opposite direction by the amount determined by the player’s actual movement: a 1-space move makes the Ghost move 3; 2 makes it move 2; 3 makes it move 1. Ghost presence affects congestion and the associated traffic bonuses. Resolve the current Progress card as instructed; these effects can move objective markers and remove components from offers. The Ghost does not take player actions.
Challenges and solo end
Challenges form three difficulty columns: green, yellow and red. Each card has a condition and a constraint. When you satisfy a Challenge, complete it and turn both of its cards face down. The solo game ends using the normal end condition, then finish the current round and play one extra round. You must have completed at least two Challenges or you lose.
Score your VP plus the bonus shown for completed Challenges (green 5, yellow 10, red 15). Compare with the Ghost score: its
Lifeform Objective tile points plus four times the value reached on its Objective track. Higher score wins. To lower difficulty, either keep all A and B Progress cards instead of removing four at setup, or count the Ghost’s Main Objective value ×3 instead of ×4. To raise difficulty, use Ghost Objective value ×5; use only B Progress cards and remove three during setup; or shuffle the ×2 card into the bottom three Progress cards, removing it when drawn, resolving the next card’s top effect twice, and leaving the ×2 card out if the deck is reshuffled. Each change is an independent difficulty option.
Advanced Challenges
For a harder solo game, use the Advanced Challenge setup: place two cards of each color in each of three columns. The upper card states the condition and the lower card the constraint. Resolve the pair as one challenge and flip both down when completed.
