Shared market

Solo mode

For solo play, set up two automa opponents and their color markers, Development display and draw bag as described in [Solo](../solo/#solo-setup). Use the three-player market and Development supply.
Choose one player-board development for your solo starting development, as clarified by designer Stefan Risthaus in the [FAQ](../faq/#solo-setup). Check the solo Development-display count against the setup inconsistency documented in [Solo](../solo/#solo-setup).

Each player

Each player takes a Player board, four factories, factory tokens, nine shipping tokens, nine loan tokens, the machine and scoring tokens, and the matching cards and markers. Place eight markers: one on Shares at 10, one on Share Value at £10, and six on their Development tracks. Set the Engineer marker to max 4.
Each player opens two factories using the matching player-count column in the figure. Use decade I factory sides and one matching starting worker card and office card for each. Place their Factory tokens at appeal 0.
Each player begins with one Development card from the supply or advances one Development on their Player board by one step.
Place the Shipping card with its two ships available. Keep unused factories, offices, workers, quality, distribution and warehouse cards in your reserve.
