Game End and Scoring
How Fame is earned during performances and at the end of the game.
During the game
| Source | Fame or reward |
|---|---|
| Advertise | Pay Coins equal to your initiative position once per turn; gain 2 Fame. |
| Trick yield | The owner of each trick performed receives that trick’s printed yield. |
| Create a Link | When you place a Trick marker that completes a Link, gain 1/2/3 Fame or Coins for a Level 1/2/3 Trick. A Shard Link also pays 1 Shard to each connected Trick owner. |
| Perform a linked card | The magician who performs the card gains 1 Fame per Link on it. |
| Performance card | The magician performing the show gets the Fame, Coin or Shard bonus printed on that card. |
| Theater specialists | An Assistant behind the performing magician gives 2 Fame; a Manager gives 3 Coins; an Engineer gives 1 Shard. |
The trick owner and the magician who performs the card can be different players. Resolve each trick’s yield first, then the performer’s bonuses.
End of the game
The full game ends after turn seven. Score:
| Holding or achievement | Final Fame |
|---|---|
| Each unspent Trickerion Shard | 1 |
| Each 3 leftover Coins | 1 |
| Each Special Assignment card remaining in hand | 2 |
| Each eligible Level 3 trick | Its printed end-game condition, if its component requirements are met or it has at least one Trick marker (Academy clarification) |
Each of the listed categories and each individual Level 3 trick can award at most 20 Fame. If playing without the Dark Alley, the base game instead ends after turn five; score 2 Fame per Apprentice and 3 per Specialist instead of Special Assignment cards, and Level 3 tricks are not in play.
Module changes
- Dahlgaard’s Academy: after regular end-game Fame, rank players by Banners on renovated Academy rooms. In a 2-player game, the leader scores 8. With 3 players, first and second score 12 and 6; with 4, the top three score 15, 10 and 5. Ties receive the lower tier. Players with no Banners score none.
- Dawn of Technology: score 2 Fame for every 3 Shards, rounded up. Shards on Contraption slots count. This replaces the base 1:1 Shard scoring.
- Dahlgaard’s Gifts — Magician Powers: Shards do not score Fame at game end.
- Arcane Arts: Enchantments do not score. Arcane Workers count as Apprentices for final scoring conditions, except the Shapeshifter, which may count as one character type of your choice. Leftover Arcane Shards score and count as regular Shards.
The player with the most Fame wins. For a tie, the player ahead in initiative order wins.
