Turn and Actions

Collect tokens, reserve cards, and buy jewels in a strict action order.

Turn order

A turn may begin with either or both optional actions, in this order: use Privileges, then refill the board. You must then take exactly one mandatory action. Finish the turn by resolving the effects of the purchase, applying the token limit, and checking victory (end and scoring).

Take tokens

Take one to three adjacent gem and/or pearl tokens in one uninterrupted horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line. Gold cannot be taken this way. If the three tokens are identical, or if you take both pearls, your opponent gains a Privilege. The line cannot cross a gold token or an empty space.

Refill the board

Mix only the tokens currently in the bag and place them on empty spaces in the board’s printed spiral. Your opponent then takes one Privilege. If the bag is empty, this optional action is unavailable. If you have no legal mandatory action, you must refill before choosing one.

Reserve or buy a card

To reserve, take one gold token from the board, then take a face-up Jewel card or draw the top card of any level deck. You may have at most three reserved cards. A reserved card has no effect until purchased.

To buy, choose a card in the pyramid or your reserve. First subtract every matching bonus already in your tableau; then pay the remaining cost with tokens. Gold can replace any gem or pearl. A cost cannot go below zero. Return spent tokens to the bag. Replace a purchased pyramid card before resolving its ability.

Bonuses and abilities

Each purchased card adds its printed bonus permanently, and those discounts are automatic on future purchases. Resolve an ability after the new card is placed and the pyramid is replenished. A copy-color card takes the color of one of your existing bonuses; it copies the color only, not the number of bonuses. You need an existing bonus card to buy it.

Privileges and limits

Return one or more Privileges to take the same number of non-gold tokens from the board. If you take three identical tokens in the mandatory take action, or both pearls, your rival gains one Privilege. A player who must receive a Privilege takes it from the shared supply, or from the opponent if the supply is empty; if the opponent has all three, nothing changes.

At the end of your turn, count gems, pearls, and gold together. Discard any excess above ten back into the bag.
