Tips & Strategy
Practical, rulebook-grounded choices for managing the shared deck and royal attacks.
Preserve the Tavern
Hearts return cards from the discard pile beneath the Tavern, extending the shared supply. Use them when the discarded pool has useful cards, but remember that the cards go under the draw pile and may take time to return.
Plan around immunity
Each royal blocks its own suit power. A Jester cancels that immunity, so saving one for a dangerous matchup can unlock a Clubs burst, Diamond refill, Heart recovery, or Spade defense.
Reduce attacks early
Spades lower a royal’s attack for its whole fight. A reduction of 6 means the eventual attack requires six fewer points of discard, even after later turns; reductions from multiple plays accumulate.
Coordinate without revealing hands
Discuss general plans and willingness, not exact card identities or values. A player who yields can let others act first, while a player who lands the final damage takes an immediate extra turn against the next royal.
Treat a surviving royal as a deadline
If the enemy remains alive, its attack is handled by the active player alone. Keep enough discardable value available in hand, and use Diamonds to refill hands before a vulnerable player is forced to face the attack.
