Your first game

• Build a plan around Progress. Reaching Character levels improves future income and worker options; compare an early Progress action with its immediate coin cost against the benefits across later rounds.
• Make production usable. Match well colors and depth to refinery recipes. A deep well that produces barrels you cannot refine this round may lose excess barrels at phase end.
• Use the Train to claim timing and position. Railway bonuses are gained as you enter Regions, while an Office grants its branch bonus immediately. Check terrain cost before committing to a route.
• Time the Manager. A linked action pair can combine development with a follow-up that uses the new position or resource. Assistants go first, so reserve a useful inner-ring pair for a Manager.
• Read milestones and blue cards early. Their conditions can reward one direction of development; align actions before the relevant scoring window rather than pivoting at the last moment.
• Refine before barrels overflow. You may keep only one barrel of each color after the phase. Activate each refinery once and plan the sequence so the best recipes receive the barrels they need.
